How Toxic are Our Household Cleaners?

We tend to spend at least half the day indoors where there is two to five times as much air pollution as outdoors. The reason is that most of those chemical pollutants arrive uninvited and unknown. They do not announce themselves on their label. Many common cleaning products contain PFCs and PFAs, formaldehyde and volatile organic chemicals. The EWG, The Environmental Working Group, has been evaluating cleaning products for a couple decades and, to make safety and cleaner air even easier, they have created the EWG VERIFIEDTM mark as the new gold standard in health & wellness.

To be EWG VERIFIED, a product must

  • Be free of EWG’s ingredients of concern that harm health and the environment.
  • Disclose their ingredients to consumers.
  • Meet stringent air quality standards.

So far, they have certified fourteen products – Take a look: https://www.ewg.org/ewgverified/products_cleaners.php
