Bredesen’s Protocol for Preventing and Reversing Cognitive Decline
Thirty-five years of medical research have put Dale Bredesen, PhD, MD, the Chief Science Officer (CSO) of Apollo Health, at the forefront of research into Alzheimer’s disease prevention and memory-loss reversal. His research teams have made discoveries that changed our understanding of the fundamental nature of Alzheimer’s disease and led to revolutionary treatments. Dr. Bredesen was the first neurodegenerative disease researcher to publish peer-reviewed groundbreaking studies on reversing cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease. His studies shattered preconceived notions and beliefs that Alzheimer’s is un-survivable, fostering hope for those facing cognitive decline or caring for someone who is. This was first described in his 2017 book: The End of Alzheimer’s: The First Program to Prevent and Reverse Cognitive Decline and in the recently-released (Aug 18, 2020) The End of Alzheimer’s Program: The First Protocol to Enhance Cognition and Reverse Decline at Any Age.
I am a Bredesen Protocol Trained Health Coach. That means I have been trained to partner with participants in the Apollo PreCODE™ and ReCODE™ programs or with the participants and their Bredesen-trained Practitioners (or, with their supportive health care providers). In addition to being a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach, I hold a certificate in the Bredesen Protocols from the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and am a Qualified ReCODE™ Report Practitioner*. As a coach, I provide support, resources, and education to help participants and their caregivers adopt the many lifestyle and behavioral changes required for preventing and reversing cognitive decline stemming from one of the Bredesen-identified six major causes of Alzheimer’s.
If you, or you and your health care provider, are interested in this program or if you are already enrolled with Apollo and need the support of a coach, please contact me and let’s discuss the program and how I might work with you. This is a tightly focused lifestyle program that includes diet, fasting, sleep, stress-reduction, environmental issues, brain training, oral health and targeted supplements. One of the challenging but, perhaps, the most important leg of that multi-faceted approach is diet and I have extensive training and decades of personal experience in that arena.
*The PreCODE™ and ReCODE™ Reports are comprehensive and customizable protocols for the prevention, reversal (or arresting) of cognitive decline in individuals with early Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), subjective cognitive impairment (SCI), or those at risk for cognitive decline. The PreCODE™ and ReCODE™ Report software evaluates large sets of genomic, biochemical, functional, and radiological data. This data is analyzed to detect the major types of Alzheimer’s disease and other conditions. The ReCODE™ Report’s algorithm determines which of the six subtype of Alzheimer’s disease the participant has, or is at risk for and is used to develop a personalized protocol for reversal and prevention. The smaller dataset used in PreCODE™ including a reduced menu of tests, helps identify key areas of focus to prevent cognitive decline.
